[DAYTON, OHIO, May 17, 2024] – As WGI begins preparations for its 48th season, Wayne Markworth, Director of the organization’s Winds Division, announces his resignation, effective June 1, to focus on his health.
Markworth has exemplified fearless and visionary leadership throughout his tenure, fostering remarkable growth and success of WGI’s youngest division over the last ten years. Under his guidance, the division experienced continued growth in the quantity and quality of competing groups each year.
Wayne Markworth’s profound dedication to the WGI community and his unwavering commitment to its participants have been instrumental in shaping the landscape of indoor winds. His passion for the activity has inspired countless performers, educators, and fans alike, leaving an indelible mark on the WGI community.
In a statement, Wayne expressed his gratitude to the WGI organization, staff, and participants:
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the Director of the WGI Winds Division. I am immensely proud of our accomplishments over the past decade. However, my health requires my full attention now.”
