WGI Scholarships

Since its inception, the WGI Scholarship Program has provided more than $850,000 to deserving young people.

Support for these scholarships comes from generous contributions from personal donations, corporate donations and income from the 50/50 raffle at World Championships. Corporate scholarships awarded through this program include:

      • FJM, Inc. Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding student majoring in music education
      • FJM, Inc. Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding color guard performer
      • Yamaha/DeLucia Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding student majoring in music education
      • Yamaha Music Education Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding student majoring in music education
      • Zildjian/Mark Thurston Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding percussion performer
      • Percussion Judges Memorial Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding percussion performer

A Scholarship Committee made up of individuals representing WGI Judges, Instructors, Directors, Staff, and others active in the WGI activity, review these applications. Scholarship winners are announced at World Championships.

Application Process:

To begin the application process, you will need to collect the following: Please note, all documents must be submitted at time of application.

      • Two Letters of recommendation from individuals other than the group director.
      • High School and/or College Transcript
      • Letter from group director stating that they have approved this applicant (one applicant per group)
      • SAT/ACT scores optional
      • Hi-res Headshot Photo (JPG or JPEG preferred)

These items need to be in PDF format and will be attached at the end of the online application. Please note: all documents must be submitted at time of application.

Each group registered to compete at  2023 World Championships may nominate one competing member for a WGI Sport of the Arts scholarship.  Applications for the 2023 World Championships must be submitted to the WGI office no later than Monday, February 6th.
