As we wrap up another exciting year, we’re reflecting on some of the standout moments that made 2024 special for our organization and the indoor marching arts community.

1. The Growth and Development of our Winds Division!
The WGI Winds Division is entering its 10th year of existence in 2025, and we are proud of the continued growth it has experienced over the past decade.

2. WGIcon 2024 was a success!
We held the 2024 edition of WGIcon this past September in San Francisco, CA. The event broke past attendance records and featured a myriad of different sessions covering topics from show and sound design to effective and interactive education. Featuring an exceptional keynote session from Disney Pixar Animator, Deanna Marsigliese, Participants in this year’s WGIcon left with more knowledge to continue pushing the creative boundaries of the activity.
3. Dr. Will Frankenberger was hired as the Director of Participant Protection
Dr. Will was hired as the inaugural Director of Participant Protection in June, a role that underscores our unwavering commitment to participant protection. His appointment marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to ensure the protection of all participants, staff, and volunteers in the WGI activity.

As part of this role, Dr. Will worked with the Board of Directors to adopt an updated code of conduct for the 2025 season. These improvements are designed to empower performers and support staff with clear guidelines and resources, fostering a culture of care that prioritizes the well-being of everyone participating in WGI.

4. The I Am WGI: Programs welcomed another class in 2024!
The I AM WGI: Future Leaders Program and Emerging Voices Award welcomed another class of individuals who show promise to make a change in their local communities and foster positive change in the indoor marching arts activity!
