The Blue Valley West High School Band Program is seeking two positive, dynamic, and creative individuals to join our instructional staff! We have openings for a Director of Percussion and Director of Color Guard for the 2024-2025 school year!

Both positions play an integral role in designing and implementing a cohesive vision and plan of instruction that enhances our students’ musical and artistic growth.

The Director of Percussion will oversee all aspects of our percussion program including three concert ensembles, marching band, and percussion ensemble. The West percussion studio is robust with a strong track record of excellence and accomplishment including developing numerous All-State musicians and invited performances at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop, PASIC, and the Kansas Day of Percussion. We are looking for someone to share their energy and expertise to continue building on an already solid foundation!

Both positions will assist with daily classroom instruction as well as extra-curricular rehearsals and performances. Compensation is through a district stipend and additional hourly pay.

Established in 2001, the Blue Valley West Bands average an enrollment of over 150 students each year in three concert ensembles, marching band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, pep band, Fall Color Guard, and Winter Guard. The program embraces the West cornerstones of FAMILY, PRIDE, GRIT, and EXCELLENCE. The West Bands are a two-time Kansas Bandmasters Association Marching Band Champion; three-time Bands of America Regional Finalist; been an invited perform 11 times to the KMEA In-Service Workshop; and have performed at the Music for All National Festival; Carnegie Hall; Kennedy Center; JEN Conference; and the London New Year’s Day Parade.
