Color Guard Director

Stephen F. Austin HS in Sugar Land, Texas (SW Houston) has an immediate opening for a Color Guard Director.

Fort Bend ISD has a standard pay of $26K.  Boosters will also supplement an additional $7,500-10,000 for benefits.

The color guard at SFA is healthy and growing.  There are two winter guards, Scholastic AA and JV Regional A.  The Stephen F. Austin HS Marching Band is a 6A Texas UIL State Marching Contest participant and a consistent BOA Regional Finalist.  Last year SFA was the Class 3A Champion at BOA Katy, sweeping the class for the first time since 2010.  The culture of how we treat one another is incredibly strong and the reason the band and guard are rapidly getting bigger and better.  The Varsity Guard advanced to the TCGC State Championships for the first time in school history this year.

The requirements for this position include:
⁃ All administrative/planning responsibilities associated with being the guard director for the marching band and winter guard.
⁃ Teach one class per school day, 50 minutes.
⁃ Attend all camps, rehearsals, football games, and contests.
⁃ Prior drum corps/winter guard experience is preferred.
⁃ Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
⁃ The ability to work with a very collaborative team.
⁃ Experience with choreographing weapons, flags, and dance.
⁃ Show organization and punctuality in all program activities.
