Bio
Tom Slaughter has been involved in the pageantry activity for 35 years as a performer, designer, instructor, and judge. Beginning his 13th season as a WGI adjudicator, Tom is also the Chief Judge of the Florida Federation of Judges Association, which schedules and administrates winter guard and winter percussion judging for the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit and the South Florida Winter Guard Association.

In his past, Tom performed as a member of the Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and then went on to design and administrate the visual program at Largo High School in Largo, Florida for 17 years, winning 2 State of Florida Class Championships (1998 and 2000). Tom spent 3 seasons (2009, 2010, 2011) as the Visual Caption Head and Staff Coordinator for the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps out of Jacksonville, Florida and then was a member of the visual staff for the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps during 2012. Currenty Tom works as a Designer and Consultant for the marching bands at Sunlake High School in Land O’ Lakes, FL (a perennial FMBC State Finalist) and J.W. Mitchell High School in Trinity, FL.

During the week, Tom teaches Algebra at Wilson Middle School in Tampa, Florida. His wife of 25 years, Rene’ (a former high school Guard Captain), is a Registered Nurse working in Clearwater, Florida. His oldest son, Brandon (22) is the Assistant Director of Bands at Sunlake High School in Land O’ Lakes, FL. His youngest son, Ryan (18) is a Senior at J.W. Mitchell High School, where he is Captain of the baseball team and a Section Leader for his band’s percussion section. Tom and his family currently reside in New Port Richey, FL.
