WGI and the WGI Diversity and Inclusion Committee are excited to announce the I AM WGI: Future Leaders Program, a new mentorship and leadership opportunity for color guard, percussion and winds performers across the globe.
“WGI’s Future Leaders Program is a crucial step in grounding and expanding our perspectives when it comes to performer advocacy,” says WGI Diversity and Inclusion Committee Member Kevin Shah. “By launching this program, we wish to amplify the voice of younger generations to help shape this activity into the future.”
The Future Leaders Program will focus on three separate opportunities: Mentorship, Ambassadorship and an Annual Project.
“The Future Leaders Program is a promise to all current and future generations of performers that their voice will continue to have value and power in shaping our activities,” says WGI President Ed Devlin. “We look forward to engaging in a more direct, open dialogue at the performer level, while providing them with the tools and resources to help strengthen their leadership skills within the indoor marching arts.”
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for the program without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability. Due to COVID-19, eligibility for 2021 will be based on the applicant’s affiliation with a unit from the 2020 WGI season.
If approved for the program, all candidates must agree to enroll in and complete a WGI sanctioned SafeSport training course as well as complete all requirements as set forth by the WGI Volunteer Policies and Agreements.
