Landmark Occasion for Chinese Players and Percussion Industry
MEDUCTIC, Canada (July 25, 2007) – SABIAN recently broke new ground by hosting a major drumming competition in Beijing, China. The event featured 10 of China's hottest players competing for prizes including a trip to SABIAN's headquarters in Meductic, Canada. Along with the notable contestant roster, the panel of judges included top SABIAN endorsers Bei Bei, Izumi KOGA, ZHAO Nin, LIU Xiao Song, Sara DUAN, and ZHENG Zhao Hui, as well as SABIAN Director of Sales Peter Stairs and Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing Manager Jonathon Yip.
With an audience of hundreds on hand at the M.A.O. Live House in Beijing, XUN Liang took home first prize, HU Yufei was awarded second, and LI Hao rounded out the top three. Other contestants included LI Yalin, GENG Lu, WANG Hanshi, GE Weibin, ZHU Jiewen, ZHAO Lang, and LI Ang.
"Chinese drummers are just like other players around the world," Yip said. "They share the same desire to be the best, and their enthusiasm is infectious. Plus, they have made SABIAN the number-one cymbal here in China. We were very impressed by the quality of their performances."
