Additional Requirements List - for copyright
COMPOSITIONS WITH ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Units that choose to perform the following works, works by the following composers, or administered by the following publishers must take additional steps, pay additional fees and/or provide additional permissions in favor of Winter Guard International and its designees regarding recording, reproduction and distribution of the performance.
This list may change from year to year as WGI gains more information concerning the wishes of the composers and copyright owners and our ability to license recordings upon the terms the WGI Board of Directors deem appropriate. This list will be published for the upcoming season on August 1 each year and will remain frozen for that competitive season.
Below is a list of the songs, composers, and publishers that for which WGI requires an additional step for participation. Compositions on this list require proof of Permission to arrange/perform and approved synchronization permissions by January 15 th of any competitive season. Payment of synchronization royalties for the songs below will not become the responsibility of the unit assuming the license can follow previously set WGI standards.
Units that choose to perform compositions by above must submit WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE COPYRIGHT OWNER AUTHORIZING WINTER GUARD INTERNATIONAL OR ITS DESIGNEE TO VIDEORECORD THE WORK AND TO REPRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE UP TO 1,000 COPIES OF THE RECORDING OF YOUR PERFORMANCE.
Your unit will become solely responsible for paying the costs associated with obtaining these permissions/licenses, including the payment of any license fees or royalties, on a "most favored nations" basis. Approved proof of permission/license and proof of royalty advance payment must be submitted to WGI by January 15th or your unit will not be allowed to compete.
